Course Information:

The Medical Assisting curriculum offers students a challenging introduction to the allied health field.  This college level course will explore a number of health related disciplines and prepare the student for associated entry level skills.  Students will learn to assist in the performance of diagnostic procedures and physical exams.  Students will also learn to assist with patient education and the business of medical practices. Varied instructional strategies are used to learn medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, pharmacology, and health maintenance and disease prevention.  Successful completion of the course will result in the ability to take the certification exam for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.   The students must obtain their high school diploma within 12 months of passing the exam to be awarded the credentials.  Students will also have the ability to obtain certifications for CPR, Blood-borne pathogens, HIPAA and hand hygiene.

• HLHS 100 Intro to Healthcare (3 credits) 

• HLHS 101 Medical Terminology (3 credits) *

• HLHS 102 Anatomy & Physiology (3 credits) *


* Must enroll and meet Ivy Tech program-ready requirements (PRR), if applicable.
